Activities & Community Service

The high school experience should not be defined solely by your academic performance. Whether or not you are college-bound or will be choosing another path after high school, your participation in extracurricular activities will help to connect you with your passions, create connections beyond the classroom, and round out your college applications or resume.

Extracurricular

With the elimination of standardized testing requirements from UC/CSU admissions requirements, extracurricular involvement is more important than ever. Yes, your academic achievement is still important, however it is necessary to demonstrate achievement outside of the classroom as well. If all other things are equal, extracurricular involvement could make YOUR college or job application stand out over another applicant. While extracurriculars are important, remember to not sacrifice your academic performance in favor of extracurricular involvement.

It is recommended that you choose 2-3 areas of interest and 3-5 specific extracurricular activities that you can commit to during your time at AR. At least one activity should focus on leadership development.
